What happens when you call

When someone calls to schedule an evaluation or exam for a child, we talk to the non-offending caregiver to get background information about his/her concern(s). We discuss the need to have the police and/or Children and Youth Services present for the interview. This does not mean that someone will automatically be arrested or go to jail. This is done to prevent multiple interviews for a child - ideally only one interview occurs. A Child’s Place can notify the police and Children and Youth Services. Lastly, in many cases Victim Services Advocates are notified and present during the interview process to support the child and caretaker(s).
